Liz' Jig

Found it on a piece of practise music written out long ago for Liz' daughter by her recorder tutor. No idea of its original name.

It reminds me of "Brose and Butter."

"Mac's Fancy" ~ DUPE-LICATION

Here's a slight cleanup on this weird offering ~ and it resolves on 'A', not 'G':

~ it isn't Liz's and a little basic research would have dug that up...

The original transcription given here has an unnecessary extra two bars, allowing a long finish on 'G6', which does not resolve the tune properly. This may have been intended as a tail-off or close, something to finish the whole thing off with, after a few times through the melody, which I take as being 32 bars and not the weird rambling thing given here. This is a bad transcription, taken off a scratch piece of paper some music teacher had left behind, hardly qualifying as a trustworthy source. Does 'rogerf' or anyone else actually play this as given here?

This next bit seems to be some attempt at accompaniment? ~ a second part? It doesn't come off as a 'tune', as there is little to support a decent melody in it. It may have been a teachers accompaniment to support the basic beat of the melody given above? ~ but, to repeat myself, it isn't in C Major and it does not resolve on 'G' as given here. If it were C Major it would resolve on 'C', but enough of basics...:

a3 g3 | A2 e e3 | A2 e e3 | A2 e e3 |
G2 d d3 | A2 e e3 | A2 e e3 | BAG c2 A |

G2 G z3 | Ace A2 e | A2 e A2 e | Ace A2 e |
G3 G2 G | Ace A2 e | A2 e A2 e | Ace A2 e | BAG c2 A | G3 G3 | G6 ||

Hey, three extra measures, so it doesn't quite line up with the earlier bars... Is that an overlap, so the accompanist gets to drag out that wrong G for another two beats? OUCH!

Liz' Jig

Having returned to this post after a gap of several years i see there is a rather snide comment by caolachan about my submission. I had no idea the original top tune was Mac's fancy and as an ingenue I had no way of finding out so thanks for that information. However I submitted it a s a duet which got mangled in the process and which might explain caolachan's confusion. Some politeness on his part would have been welcome.

An ingenue, really? I've never met a girl named Roger before....

Roger, when you submit a tune here, it becomes a permanent part of the database (unless the web master deletes it). So consideration for accuracy and correctness in the abcs and title are appreciated. Given how badly you botched this, ceolachan *was* being polite.
