"Mike MacDougall's Jig" II ~ another from his fine fiddling...
This one has me in a quandry, hesitating long before returning to this and submitting it. I'm sure I have known something similar in another tradition (or 'life'?). It is that familiar that I found I had several ways with it when playing it. I've given two here, not huge differences, more like variations. But, I still can't escape the strong association with this melody that keeps telling me I have it somewhere else ~ Irish? ~ Scottish? I have been looking, including trying every bar with the 'Advanced' search here on site, but no luck so far, even trying different keys. So, if anyone else can add information to the lineage of this melody, that would be very welcome...
Simple & harmonic variations: I sometimes take 'gag' the other way, or 'gfg'... The different endings for these two takes on the tune, the last two bars of each part, are harmonic, can work together...

That first bit of the B-part on the 1st take of the tune was a little snippet of Willie Coleman's.

Thanks for posting this lovely jig. I know it from the duet album of Scots musicians Iain MacDonald and Iain MacFarlane, "The Farst Harvest." It's attributed to Jerry Holland in the notes of the recording.

Not again! You know, I've been away from the computer for a while and have just flought back from Britain. It's all because of jet lag and the horrible news.

Stop it you two ~ or it's blow fish for supper for you both...
Jerry Holland got it from Mike...

What's a 'flought', sounds like a particularly painful way to travel, and from here to there.

Call me an idiot or whatever. But it was painful to stay seated for more than 12 hours, you know.

Just so you know I was thinking of you 's'/'hy', you can avoid all the low drops with the first variant for bar 1 - | D2 D ~ (or D3 or ~D)... You do not need to drop lower to enjoy this tune.
If you have a different take on this one please add it here in the 'Comments'. I've never heard the recording "The First Harvest"...

I've done that flight a few times before. It's really boring and sore isn't it? I think you need some rest Yamada-chama. Get 'c' to sing you a lullaby - just don't let his accent grate on you.

For you Yamadasan, I would 'adjust' my dulcet tones. How about the Roy Rodgers song "Happy Trails"? Nah? What about the "Life of Brian" one "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life", I could do a Dow/Mark accent, kind of mangled Pom-duh-terre...

We'll have less of the "duh" please 'c' I thank you.

Mr. Potato Head I presume...

Another transcription from the fiddler Wendy MacIsaac's website, and there's other music there too. I believe in giving the 'homepage' and steps to any relevant link, out of courtesy for the site and you...:
