Going to the Well for Water is also called The Kaiser. I first heard this tune at a really busy session and lucky for me, I had a recorder with me that night. It was played in a set of only 2 tunes and they are both terrific. The first tune they played was Troy's Wedding, which I believe is a normal jig. (If there is such a thing.) These 2 tunes really drive along and I get a great buzz when playing them. Troy's Wedding is the first in the set and I will try to work it out as soon as I can and post it also. Troy's is a four parter I think and parts of it are quite challenging.
The Well is fairly straightforward and the only bit I find a wee bit dodgy sometimes is the second last bar in the second part. Thats the GBB GBB FAA FAA bit. That's when it's played on the fiddle at least. I have just picked up my button box and to my pleasure I have found it is really easy to play on it. I have no idea how old the tune is, or who wrote it. Does anybody play this tune with anything else. Good luck with it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Dexy.

The Kaiser
This is one of the first tunes I learned on the Mandolin from Padraig Carrol's book "The Irish Mandolin". In there it is called The Kaiser. I din't know it had another name. I usually play it in a set after Calaghan's (which may be in here somewhere under a different name but I haven't found it yet (I'll maybe have to submit it myself).

The Daly / Creagh set is very nice. Is this tune a Slide or is it a March? It reminds me of "General Leslie's March", which is in 6/8 time.
