Buntata's Sgadan
This little reel is one of many excellent tunes from the CD 'First Harvest' by Iain MacDonald Iain MacFarlane.
We learnt it on Colm O'Rua's mandolin/banjo course at Sabhal Mor Ostaig in July 2004.
It was composed by Allan MacDonald, brother of Iain. The title means 'potatoes and herring' (a Highland antecedant of fish and chips).
Try variations with a generous injection of triplets (banjo/mandolin)
3(AAA cA ceae | 3(fff ae cBBa | 3(AAA ccae | f2 ae cAAa | etc
and a few slides. Also listen to Iain MacFarlane's fiddle playing on 'First Harvest'.
