Scottish jig by Dagger Gordon
I've not been submitting many tunes lately but I'll be rectifying that. there's so much out ther to share.
or otherwise but would still fit in very well in an Irish set or session.
This is actually a Scottish tune composed by that wonderful mandolin player, David (Dagger)Gordon. Inchindown is about four miles north of Invergordon in Easter Ross.
I'm not suggesting that it sounds Irish

Very pretty melody, John, a keeper for sure. Keep 'em coming.

Irishizing the tune
I don't hear this tune as distinctly Scottish sounding--more just a beautiful jig. But a few (fairly obvious) "variations" help bring out its charms.
This tune would work well as a treble jig for step dancers.

Just a personal little rant here.
God, I despise those little smiley faces. How insipid!
End of rant.
Nice tune, though.

*hic* scuse me
It's a lovely jig, and Irishy enough as submitted. I'm wondering if Will added those hic-ups to give it a slightly inebriated feeling.

Actually, it reminds me a bit of Boys of Lough Gowna, which I also use as a treble, and the bowed triplets go well with the dancer's steps.

Uh huh... sure, Will... pour me another one... ok?
(Sorry about the "insipid" smiley face thingy there, Richard.)

Also known as "Brown Ale" ...
Liz Doherty plays this as Brown Ale in a nearly identical version on "Last Orders" (All In Good Time - Brown Ale - Miss Sarah McFadyen).

Maybe that's where the inebriated feeling comes from.
I'll add the extra name so the set's complete in the database.
