Nana's Walkabout
Composed by Johnny Cunningham as part of the music for the "Peter & Wendy" puppet show which he was involved with some years ago. I saw this CD in Singapore last January and just had to buy it. This tune illustrates Johnny's sense of humour perfectly. "Nana" is the dog in the nursery, and you can just picture a big lumbering bloodhound lurching along to this tune. It never fails to make me smile.
This transcription was by Corrina Hewat for students at the "Splore" summer school of traditional Scottish music in August. We arranged some of Johnny's tunes and some of the traditional tunes from that CD and the students played them in Johnny's memory in the Aberdeen Music Hall.
It is played as written, straight through, with no repeats.
Good on ye, Johnny !
