Michael Flatley's

This reel comes from a recording of an American flute and whistle player who was invited to play on stage at the Flute and Whistle recital at the Willie Clancy week in 1986. I regret that I did not catch his name. It was only some years later when I was given a tape of Michael Flatley’s flute recording that I recognised the tune, and it is one of his compositions. The transcription from the Miltown recording was done by Malcolm Reavell, and I believe it to be accurate. I would say it is similar in style to the “Convenience” reel, in that it has a “modern” feel about it, jumping up and down between octaves, and including lots of “rolls”.

Nice one micheal

Really love this tune would love to hear him play it , i never managed to get hold of the flatley cd though judging from his performance of the masons apron on riverdance id bet its good id say he,s one of ,if not the best flute players ive ever heard and ive heard a few ,and was my inspiration to take up the concert flute ,i really like the second part which reminds me of jean,s reel

It sounds more like the "Concertina Reel" to me, Kenny.
