Whinny Hills of Leitrim

This is a variant of Whinny Hills of Leitrim. See: http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display.php/1064

Good to have another version of the tune. This one might be similar to a West Yorkshire version, which I really need to learn.

"Redican's Mother" (this tune) is played often in Chicago. The endings of both parts played identically, the last measure of the first part being played the same as the last measure of the second part noted here.

Matt Molloy plays this tune as a jig called "Fisherman's Lilt" on Heathery Breeze.

On fiddle and other instruments with notes below the low D on flute and whistle, it's typical to play measure 4 with a low B, as follows:

|EDB, DFA B2A:|

The transcription that's posted here appears to follow how a flute player would play the tune with the low B popped up an octave, versus how the melody flows naturally.

Anyhow, this is a certainly a lovely tune - one of my favorites.
