It's quite surprising this mighty little tune was not posted here yet. Thank you for posting it, for I've forgotten to learn it properly for ages. Solas recorded it as Sonny Brogan's if my memory is correct, but I personally perfer Dervish's lively playing of the tune.

Bill Hart's Jig
One of the great old jigs. Easy to learn and a grand session tune.

Must have some Clare connection as I remember Robbie McMahon (Spancil Hill) teaching a group of European students on a visit to Ennis how to lilt it - and very effectively too !!

I learned this tune from Dan Beimborn who knows it as "Jim Beehan's" so I've added that as an alias.

Bill Hart's Favourite
Thanks Jim, I'll check it out. This tune caught my attention by the name when I was reading another discussion on this site (about the Kesh). Funny thing is I know a man by the name of Bill Hart. I will have to play it for him some day.

The B part of this is very similar to the A part of Road to Ness, an equally lively but much less popular Scottish setting. Thanks Kenny for pointing this out.

Sweet recording of Bill Hart's jig
There is a very nice version on an old Outlet record now out on cd (PTICD 1001) where the whistle player Tom McHaile puts it on the back of Lark in the Morning. Lovely arrangement and nice key change to boot!
