Tommy Peoples'

Off Frankie and Mairead's Ceol Aduaidh. This setting is based on a Sydney session recording. The tune rarely gets played, and when it does, people always start to play the much more common Doon Reel http://thesession.org/tunes/display.php/438 over the top of it before they realise it's a different tune.

Another setting is available here with a whole load of other donegal tunes:

This may be closer to what you can hear on the recording, but I wouldn't know as I haven't got that album myself - I only have their earlier recording from '93.

This is the second tune in the first set on Danu's "Up in the Air" Album. Benny McCarthy does it as thatis a solos album, he plays it after "The Moving Cloud" and he does it in Eb.

An old tune recycled!

Hmm, this is unmistakably the same tune as ''The Blue-eyed Lassie' appearing in Ryan's Mammoth Collection from the mid-19th century. How did it get to be called Tommy Peoples'?

Obvious....

As Dr. Dow writes above, Frankie and Mairead recorded it on their first LP, in 1983, I think. They learned the tune from Tommy Peoples, who presumably didn't have a name for it, so in keeping with the tradition, they named it after their source, ie Tommy Peoples.

It is indeed the same tune. I'm changing the listed title to Blue-eyed Lassie and moving Tommy Peoples' to the alternative names.
