Mountain Belle

This is in response to a request by Colin Turner in a comment he made recently on Bonnie Kate.
Mountain Belle is evidently closely related to The Old Black Guard, already on this database. It appears to have been written by George H Watson (1850-1880).
I got this tune from J-C's database, but I changed the time signature from 2/4 to 4/4 and the default note length from 1/16 to 1/8, so as to fit in with everything else here, and, incidentally, to make it more readable.

Hybrid Mountain Belle?

Thanks for taking the trouble to post this one, Trevor. The first strain is very much as I remember it, and the third strain is close, too. However the second strain is not at all as played by the New Victory Band. The version they played bears a much closer resemblance to "The Ideal Schottische" recorded by the Cheviot Ranters. If I put all the pieces together this tune should last, if played with repeats and at a steady pace, a good 10 minutes or more!
Thanks again,
Colin
