Thrush in the morning

I suspect the doctor would recomend Greek Yoghurt for such a complaint.

One of my favourites. It pains me that I can never find anyone to play it with. We must meet up sometime, G.M.

It was actually already posted last year:

...but it's such a good tune that it deseves to be posted at least twice. Anyway, the setting is slightly different.

It was composed by Seamus Ennis, I believe.

Emily_az, you're a nurse, perhaps you should answer Gian Marco's "?"...

Thrush in the Morning

Seamus Ennis plays this tune on the record named "Seamus Ennis, The Return from Fingal" where he credits the tune as being composed by his father.

Séamus Ennis describes the Morning Thrush

The Morning Thrush was composed by Jimmy Ennis in 1913 or 1914; Séamus Ennis found the manuscript at home and learned the reel from the manuscript. Apparently, Ennis sr. was delighted to hear Séamus playing the tune. Jimmy Ennis entered the tune in the Feis Ceoil and won the competition. He was inspired by a thrush that used to sing in a tree by his bedroom window.

[notes taken from Séamus Ennis himself, recorded]
