Info about The Salvation
Composed by Simon Bradley. I learned it from a band called Croft No. 5. It's a very popular session tune in Glasgow.

I learned a slightly different version of this tune from the playing of Karen Tweed with the band Swap. I think it has a great drive to it:

EGAE GAEG | AecA BAFA | BccA BcAF | EFAB cA~A2 :||:
BceB ceBc | effe cBBe | f3f- fece | agae fecB |
cdec defg | agae fece | fecA B2AB | cBAE FAE2 :||!
It's also become a hot tune for contradances here in New England. Rodney Miller and David Surette do a great version of it and have this fun variation on the A part that drives dancers wild:
"variation for A part:"!

Fingering
any thoughts about fourth finger vs open A's and e's in The Salvation? Are string changes (i.e. open) essential to the rhythm, drive, or is 4th finger better?

I don't think it really matters, whatever works for you!
