Tune Submitted Disappeared

Hi everyone,

I submitted a tune yesterday (18 Feb 2010) called The Hole in the Boat (a tune which I got from The Next Turn album by Trouble in the Kitchen) and it has disappeared! Can anyone tell me why? It was up for a while and isn't anymore.

The tune I submitted is nothing like The Hole in the Boat version which is currently online. The version i submitted is taken directly from Trouble in the Kitchen and is in D Dorian and the melody appears to be half a bar behind the version which is currently online (because trouble in the kitchen hold the opening notes longer). This in turn completely changes the rhythm and melody of the piece.

Although my version appears similar to the current online version it is in a different key, has a different rhythm and has a different melody. So it couldn't have been taken off because it repeated the version already submitted.

Does anyone know what went wrong? Has this happened to anyone before?

Re: Tune Submitted Disappeared

The version I submitted was:

D3 D3|E2D DEG|ACe dCA|BCA GEA|
EDA D3|E2D DEG|ACe dCG|ACA GEA:|

D3 A3|e2d dCA|Cde dCG|BCA GEA|
EDA D3|E2D DEG|ACe dCG|ACA GEA:|

This, I think, is almost exactly what Trouble in the Kitchen play. They do not play the E dorian version.

Re: Tune Submitted Disappeared

It will be because the tune is already on here. You have already answered your own question.

If you want your version on the site you need to post it in the comments section of the already existing tune.

Re: Tune Submitted Disappeared

And I just used the word "already" far too many times for the one post.

"Has this happened to anyone before?"

Lots of people.

Re: Tune Submitted Disappeared

I would also say that in the ABCs above you have probably put the C in the wrong octave. You have written it below the bottom D.

Re: Tune Submitted Disappeared

The abcs as you submitted them are wrong. You noticed yourself - "half a bar behind....". The first "D3" knocks the whole tune out of sync and into a pile of junk. What you posted isn't a version - as it's written, it's just plain wrong.

Once you sort that out, what you have is a duplication, ergo..........

Hole in the Boat (version played by Trouble in the Kitchen)

The version I play is in D Dorian which, besides being in a different key, is about half a bar behind the version submitted. As a result it has a very different melody and rhythm and i think is far nicer, especially with the low D crans and rolls you can get:

D3 D3|E2D DEG|Ace dcA|BcA GEA|
EDA D3|E2D DEG|Ace dcG|AcA GEA:|
D3 A3|e2d dcA|Cde dCG|BcA GEA|
EDA D3|E2D DEG|Ace dcG|AcA GEA:|

This, I think, is almost exactly what Trouble in the Kitchen play. They do not play the E dorian version. I wasn't sure how to put the c notes in but just to clarify they are the c below high d.

Re: Tune Submitted Disappeared

No Cause -

I already deduced that you already used the word "already" too many times already. :)

Trust the disappearers -- they know what they are doing.

No....

Decky - that's not what they play. I have the CD and listened to it last night before posting. They're playing the standard version of the tune, but just a tone lower. I'll try playing what you've posted - it might work, or it might not. I know, because I inadvertently did the exact same thing with the tunes I'll link below.
