The Comely Maiden
I really like this tune which comes to me from another mandolin player, far more skilled than I.
We discussed the options of stretching out finger 4 to reach the ‘b’ or moving into a higher position and grabbing the ‘f’ on the second string.
This reel appears in my copy of O’Neill’s as No. 1353. The notation includes slurs, but members of “the fraternity of the flat-pick” seem to leave them out. The slurs occur on beat 1 in bars 1,3 & 5 of each section and read: d2(dc) and d2(a^g respectively.
