It's nothing to do with me in spite of the title but this is a cracking tune composed by George Meikle. The last two parts are actually variations.
This tune was used as part of a special "Homecoming dance" in 2009 as part of the Homecoming Scotland nonsense.
Also, while not a Shetland tune as such, it can(and has done) easily fit into a Shetland set.

John, the tune wouldn't have anything to do with the 5 string player known as JJ, originally from Inverness but based in shetland for a while, would it??

I don't know a great deal about this band and they must have passed me by at the time. This would explain a Shetland connection and it's inclusion in certain sets.
However, George Meikle seems to be from the Scottish Dance music scene and based in the Lothians.
More info would be welcome... I discovered this tune only recently.

I don't know how I've never heard Bongshang before. They're still on the go, apparently. They seem to have a "Shooglenifty" sound.
