Gan Ainm - anyone recognise it ?
First jig in a set of 3 from a cassette tape of a recording of students of the "West Clare School of Music", made in 1993. Searched here on some of the "abc" fragments but couldn't find it - does anyone recognise it ?

Could be this jig
I have tried to find a match in G with tunepal with no success. So I have tried in A, and I have got this as first choice:
X:165
T:Charlie Stewart
C:anon.
O:Ireland
B:Francis O'NeilL:"The Dance Music of Ireland" (1907) no. 165
R:Double jig

It looks very much like an advanced version of the proposed tuned. I suspect that it was transposed and simplified for educational reasons ...
Note that the 2nd choice from TunePal is :
X:5134
T:Charlie Mack's
M:6/8
L:1/8
R:jig
K:Amaj

Very similar too ...

Lovely Nancy
Kenny, I found one online ABC collection which identifies the A major setting of this exact tune as "Lovely Nancy":

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/djfoster/Tunebooks/MESS2.abc
The Charlie Stewart / Charlie Mack's variant is in Ryan's / Cole's under the title "Prince Charles". Also listed as "Prince Charles [2]" in the Fiddler's Companion.
I suspect these A settings started out as piping tunes in A Mix that were later prettified. The change to G is common enough when these A tunes move west to the next island.
The |cAA eAA| etc. figure also reminds me of The Tripper's that I posted here a few months ago, and that you (Kenny) and I discussed at the time. But I suppose it's a common enough figure not to make any assumptions.
