I have a recording of this tune on a CD from Kenny but no name of performers attached. It is played as a slide and then a polka. I found the name from using the Reverend's ABC tune search, but suspect the recording did not have correct name hence no match here. Does anyone recognise it?

It sounds like Harry Bradley with a fiddler (possibly Jessie
Smith?) before a live audience

The Chorus

It is indeed Harry and Jesse Smith, [ note spelling - Jesse's a "he" ] and they call the tune the "Chorus". They played it both as a jig and as march/polka. It came from a recording "Ptarmigan" sent me, recorded live at a group competition, I think in Derry a few years ago. I'd have to go back and look at the CD notes, but I seem to remember that Dick and his wife, with Marcas O'Murchu and a few others won it, and Harry's trio were third. I'm biased, but I think that this outstanding piece of playing should have won it, at least on the basis of what I heard from the CD. I'm also 99% sure that this is originally a Northumberland or North-East of England tune. I'm sure "Dow" or someone else here might recognise it. It also bears a resemblance to the tune used for a North-East of Scotland bothy ballad called "Hap-An-Row", or "The Reel Of Stumpie".

"The Rocks of Cashel" ~ "The Chorus Jig"

In Bunting's third collection he had this melody listed as "The Chorus Jig". We all screw up now and then...
