Rock,Funk, Beat delivered !What a fun album. Good Rock riffs...excellent guitar and drums. First rate vocals. Some funky beats and provocative lyrics. I have loved this band since Vivid. Back in the day I went to the Rolling Stones concert (because they opened) and left after they opened and sold my ticket to a Stones fan.
This is a great album, a few stand out songs. I still find myself humming the tune to AXX-Hole. Sample the songs and give the album a try. Not your typical cookie cutter repeat boy band. Actual music from artists, not corporations.
They're back with new music and better than ever! One of the best, most original bands to come out of the 80's, Living Colour is back with a new disc, "The Chair in the Doorway".
After listening to the new disc a few times it took me back to what drew me to them in the first place; Corey Glover's blistering vocals, Vernon Reid's blazing guitar playing and the very fine rthymn section of Doug Wimbish and Will Calhoun.
This is some of the band's best music since their ground-breaking debut "Vivid".
If you want some great hard rock music by one of rock's most talented and under appreciated bands, check this out.
excellentThere are certian facts of life a guy just can't get away from: you're gonna die, you gotta pay taxes, there will never be another real Beatles album, and you just can't go wrong buying one by Living Color.
True, this album does not thread together as well as Vivid or Times Up--but then again, the whole idea of an album as a piece has suffered a lot since the late 1980s, if I had to find a band that really still understand how to do it right, I would put my money on these guys.
There are, of course, with many great albums and all Living Color albums, many styles here: funk, avant-metal punk, jazzy work, soul. But if you listen to solo work by either Vernon Ried or Cory Glover and then go back and here this, you realize, it is synergy. Like the Beatles, it is not the playing, it is not the singing, it is not the writting, it is not the amazing way all the styles are meshed together to make one big wonderful lump of music that runs through virtually every African Amerian style, and some not so African American.
It is four talented players that always meet at the right place at the right time and, together, always make the music bigger than the sum of the parts.
Much bigger. Almost as wide and massive as music itself.
Worth the wait! With Living Colour being my favorite, I was quite happy with this CD. My favorite song on this CD is "Method" There is also a hidden track. This CD is pure Living Colour, strong vocals, and in it's own class. I love it!
Big SoundListen , I don't have a lot of time here. I have to take my dog out. This c.d. has big bass and the sound image from your speakers is huge. The music is powerful, the muscianship is awesome. The not to hidden track is funny.OK, I'm done.
