The only thing better is to see them live! While in Ireland, a bodhran player recommended KILA to me as an exciting and unique Irish band and he especially praised "Tog E Go Bog E". Like all Irish music it is full of motion and rhythm, but much more complex and compelling. These are accomplished musicians who weave and build their songs into a sound that can physically be felt. To see them live, like I did in Dublin, is an experience I do not ever think I'll match again.
Ireland's Grateful DeadMulti-facetted, frenzied, graceful, bohemian, contemporary Irish tunes and poetic lyrics that are energetic to the end and written and performed by this Irish musical pantheon that have obviously made a pact with the fairies. Fair play to ye lads! Magical stuff from a group that is sure to acquire a cult following. Buy it. Buy 'em all and watch out for their live performances. Blasta go deo. Tóg go bog é agus sin sin.
Good and different! This is one of the most innovative things to hit Celtic music since Mike Oldfield. The label says "Acid Céili [celtic?] Tribal Groove," and that's exactly what you get. Some of it is hard to get into (the tribal stuff) and the acid part is fairly jarring, but without them, it would be just another Celtic disc. Check out Rusty Nails and the title track.
FINELY BEATEN HIPPY TRADGreat addition to a Irish Trad collection but the best Kíla experience is the LIVE experience. WOW, do they put on a great show! Nice people as well. I can only see these guys improving their playing and recording as the years pass. Do your self a favour, Buy this album and keep in touch. Slán slán!
A raw and "reel" discThis is a really great band to see live if you ever get theopportunity. This is one of those discs that you can listen to overand over again; it is by far the most frequently played in our collection. For some inspirational yet simple lyrics take time to translate the Gaelic songs. You might like to check out an artist called Susan McKeown too. END
