Ossian's, The Carrying Stream Will Carry You Away.Ossian's, The Carrying Stream CD, is a must for the serious Scottish folk music collector. Be forewarned, this CD will carry you away, as in a time far away and long ago. You will find yourself reaching for this CD time and time again. Their Gaelic sound has prompted me to take up this beautiful language. Ossian's clear and precise music is purely professional, however; the passion of their music is clearly recognizable as well. You will not be be disappointed in this CD.
Fantastic album!William Jackson, who plays the Celtic Harp with this group, is one of the best Celtic Harpers in the world. This album is a terrific blend of instrumentals and songs. I bought it after a concert I saw in Edinburgh (at the fringe) in 99, and it's been in my top 10 ever since. Everybody who's ever heard "Fisherrow" while in my car has smiled and asked "who is this?" before joining in the chorus! The song about the working man is as rousing as it is catch-- both musically and politically. Not a bad tune on it. One of my 20 favorite folk CDs.
An excellent folk album - a must have for Scots folk fansAn excellent album, taking you through traditional and contemporary tunes, all played with feeling. It's one of the best albums of modern Scottish folk music in the last few years.
