VERY sociable well attended session. Appreciative locals, cheapest real ale in town. Singers, players, friends. All abilities welcome. Ah come on... don't be hidin yer light!
The Princess of Wales session on Fridays has recently moved to The Black Cat, a pub in West Street, Bedminster, Bristol, about 50 yards from the Princess of Wales, and is also on a Friday.
We are there on a trial basis for a few weeks - to see if we like them and they like us The first session last week looked very good for the future.
We are experimenting with replacing the single-venue Friday evening session with a session rotating between 4 different pubs in south Bristol on a 4-week basis.
So..........
16th Sept, The Luckwell Hotel, Luckwell Rd, Bedminster
23rd Sept, The Avon Packet, Coronation Rd, Southville
30th Sept, The Try Again, Lower Sidney St, Southville.....
7th Oct, The Barley Mow, Barton Rd, St Philips (not quite south Bristol, but never mind)
and then, hopefully, repeat every 4 weeks until we all fall down.
This seems to be the best option so as not to overdose any one pub.
On the plus side, we get a more varied and appreciative crowd (our fan club might even follow us around).
Also it's not the end of the world if one pub drops out.... we just get to find another!
As from today The Barley Mow is closed and boarded up. The session has transferred to The Try Again, three miles to the west at 15 Leigh Street, Bristol BS3 1SN Tel: 0117 966 7253, every Friday, same time. It's not now alternating with any other venue.
The erstwhile landlord of The Barley Mow has also transferred to The Try Again as its new landlord, together with his staff, and, it appears, a number of his former customers.

The session at this pub has now closed, due to a change in the pub management.

Hard to keep up?
News about this peripatetic session changes with the beer barrels. Best to keep an eye on my website;
http://www.geocities.com/spokulator36/South_Bristol_Sessions.html
which I shall keep up to date.
I am determined to keep this good thing going.
