This session has just restarted at this location as it was removed when the place got closed down one sunday as we rocked up to play. After that we had a session without a home and it moved down the street to a restaurant temporarily.
The session standard is variable but is generally at an intermediate level whatever that is. Not a slow session. The main thrust is Irish tunes but certainly a few Scottish tunes get aired.
Start-up time is 5.30pm though not many arrive on time lately, and finishes 8-8.30pm.
All welcome
This was known as the Seaview session but has shifted down the road due to a degree of lack of interest on the part of the Pub manager.
Start time has changed to 3pm and we have to be out by 5.30 as they have a "Band" playing afterwards. The acoustics are better than the previous venue.
We kicked off in style today with 7 fiddles and an assortment of whistles, plucked thingies and goat skin.
This session now starts around 3pm and runs until 6pm, when they have a band starting. Some days the band isn't on and we run till whenever.
See you there for a few tunes.
Cheers
Stuart
Nothing posted about this one for a bit... It's a grand sesh most of the time! The pub has given up on putting bands after us so we often play on later than 6.
Just an update to say that this session is still going as before. Supposed to be 3-6 but if you get there at 3 you may have to wait a while before the crew turn up - usually more like 3.30pm.
The pub has just changed hands but so far we haven't been thrown out.
See you there
New owners for the pub. They decided that with the re-branding - South Beach Hotel, the Trad Irish Music didn't fit in with their plans for the Pub/Hotel. So we have been ejected and have moved down the road to a sympathetic cafe http://www.eatability.com.au/au/perth/downsouth-cafe/
Bit too hot today to judge, but the owners and staff are all pretty keen..
The Down South Cafe is for now closed unfortunately
The Session is currently looking for a new home.
For Sunday 12th December we are moving to temporary quarters at Kidogo Art House on Bathers Beach Fremantle between the Roundhouse and Fisherman's Harbour.
Still 4pm for now
The Fremantle session has in effect folded some time ago apart from a short stint of revival in August at the Gypsy Tapas Bar.
Myself and some of the others are going to a session in Shafto Lane in the City (CBD) - Durty Nellys. This is 2-5pm on a Sunday afternoon.

We are still going strong at this same venue. The session now runs for about three hours 3-6pm and sometimes even a bit later.

The band seemed to be into the tunes as well and it was a pretty civilised handover when I was last there
