Sundays at the Spoon

The Runcible Spoon is has been a pleasant hangout near the Indiana University campus for over twenty years. Dubliner and chef Matt O'Neill has recently taken it over and, besides opening it to music, has debuted a wonderful menu of entrees and breakfasts in addition to the great coffees, teas and baked goods for which the Spoon has long been reknowned. Since early '04, the Spoon serves fine beers and wines, too.

The Sunday session is very informal, often small, and held outside on the shady patio when possible. We usually start around 7pm, and in winter we have changed it to an hour earlier.

All players and listeners are welcome. Contact the Spoon or email
min@mingates.com for more information.

Chef Matt O'Neill also supports local Trad performances, including a concert by Eire Japan with Paddy Keenan, Junji Shirota and Frankie Gavin, and Chulrua in concert and workshops.

More Spoon

The Spoon session welcomes beginners, and players of all levels, as does the other open session in Bloomington, in the Encore Cafe on Fridays at 5:30pm.

New Session schedules for the Runcible Spoon

The Encore Cafe has changed over to a grocery, so the Friday session there has moved to the Runcible Spoon.

The Tuesday Session in the Spoon, led by Grey Larsen, is a smaller, high-level session.

The Friday Session is larger and more frequented by players of all levels.
