Sundays, late afternoon - early evening from 5:30-8:00 at Starbucks, where it's nice and quiet for going over tunes and songs...then we run three doors down to a wonderful Irish Pub called Billy O'Brian's and give them a quick set of what we work up during the session at Starbuck's.
For extra confirmation of that week's plans call Mike at 860.537-2441
Content: 1. Celtic and Old Time American Tunes in a slow jam
setting ( played through slowly for learning ... then
speeded up to a faster level for possible performance)
2. Celtic and Traditional/Contemporary American Folk
Songs that feature the talents of whomever we have
attending that session. [Warning to tune snobs - we
will be singing]
Repertoire: Let's see what develops and we'll add a tunelist later. The session host has lots of written stuff for those who read, but things will be slowed down for those who don't.
EVERYBODY IS WELCOME .... ALL MUSIC LOVERS ENCOURAGED TO COME AND AND HANG OUT - SINGING ALONG IF THEY WISH !!!!!
Come from wherever on Rte 2 East or West - take Exit 18 in either direction - Right at the end of the exit (in either direction) and go toward Colchester Center on Rte 16East - Pass Blockbuster on the right and quickly drive up to the town green (between the big white churchon the right and the town library on the left) - with the green in front of you take a LEFT AT THE LIGHT and pass Billy O'Brian's Irish Pub on your left - turn left at the next light in to the plaza after Billy O'Brian's - Starbucks is in this plaza, facing the smaller memorial green across the street
We just finished our first session and we had five people attend. We are hoping to have more there next week. A good chance to play some tunes and sing some songs. Come join us.
We had a great jam on March 21st with about eight people. The tunes we are repeating (incessantly at a slow tempo) are Britches Full Of Stitches and Jayme Allen. Lots of fun with good people.
Starbucks closes early so there will be no jam next week. See everybody on April 4th
We have ended this session, at least for now. We have not had all that much interest over the last month or so, and summer is a comin' with all the busy-ness it brings. Mike
Not all that much interest this year in staring things up again. Check out the other local sessions. I know that City Steam is still going strong ... I went there last month. Mike
