Reports of the death of Pogues session have been greatly exagerrated! Following a two month lull due to a change of management and refutbishment the session has been going strong now for a month since the pub re opened. This session has been running consistently for over seven years now on wednesday nights and usually starts about nine.A lively well established session in arguably Liverpools best Irish bar.Recent musicians who have played in our session include the pipers John and Larry Rooney, mandola player Colm Power,singer/songwriter Ray Dunne, and many other musicians from Merseyside and further afield,we have also had some fine young musicians and dancers from Ireland who are studying locally. This is an inclusive session and people are made to feel welcome...the new candlelit atmosphere is great and the music is still going strong!
well, thanks to the marvels of thesession.org i've found out that my local session is back on. yay!!!! am muchly pleased at the news. one of those comhaltas kids told me it was done for good. shifty bunch
so, anyway, get down to pogue's on seel street for a damn good session.
We have decided to start the session a bit later (nearer to ten pm) so the musicians dont have to sit there waitin for the sport to end before they could start playin.Pogues have agreed to keep the bar open longer for longer so we still should have enough time to do our thin g.This has been an issue for a while now so its good that its being sorted. I think we are now going into year ten of Pogues session so thanks everyone for some fantastic nites.Hope people find the changes are conducive to music.
the last post on ehre was in January!
are these Sessions still going in Pogue Mahone?
Only my friend has just mvoed to Liverpool and we were looking of somewhere itneresting and Irish-orientated to go, as he plays an array or Iirish instruments and just enjoy listening
so yeahhh, still happening?

Interesting - I used to know Colm Power and his brother Pat, when he lived in London. Say Hello to him for me, please, from Danny!
