The session at The Folk Traditions Store

The session began in mid-February, 2002. We meet on second and fourth Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The setting is a books and music store. The books are related to the 1733 founding traditions of Savannah (native American, British, Irish, Jewish and African). Instruments include harps, flutes, whistles, recorders, banjos and bodhrans. The participants ages range from teens to sixties with little to decades of musical experience. We have focused on printed music for the first year but expect to begin memorizing pieces this year. We performed on the Cultural Stage of the Savannah Irish festival this and were very well received. Some of the more experienced musicians also perform professionally around Savannah. The group welcomes all participants.

Savannah GA

Anyone know whether the Folk Tradition Store in Savannah is still open, and whether the session is still active?

I've tried to contact the guy (David?) who posted the session, but the email bounced back.

Looks like the only other session in Savannah is at Murphy's Law pub on Sundays, assuming that's still active.

Re: Savannah GA

The Folk Traditions store is no more, and the session went along with it. We've got a very open, friendly session on Sundays at 7:30pm at Murphy's Law. Hope you can join us!

Re: Savannah GA

Great, thanks irishfiddler32. I'll be coming through on vacation in the next few weeks and I'll certainly make it a stop.
