Also called Furey's, this is the famous pub in Sligo Town that is owned by Dervish. I was there on a Tuesday night, and the music was, to be honest, a disappointment. Certainly, the session leaders were very talented (one of them is in Teada), but the music had almost no energy. Common tunes (such as McLeod's for instance), were played in unusual keys such as F major. This is a personal pet peeve of mine, as I generally consider it to be very intentionally exclusive. (If you want to record Kesh Jig in F, that's fine, but don't bring that to a session.)
Hopefully, other people have had more favorable experiences than we did, but of the eleven sessions that we went to on our trip, this was definitely the low point.
I think the first person only was in the tuesday session. On sunday, it is more friendly (there are other leaders). I haven't come back there on tuesday since the first time, because the reasons you give.
Whether Dervish still own the pub is open to question (the website is listed above is certainly defunct) as it's gone back to being called Furey's and the only advertised session is on Thursdays.
Dervish NEVER owned Fureys Pub in Co. Sligo. There is now a session ever Thursday and very often have great bands playing throughout the week.
It is a great pub with a wonderful atmosphere.

It depends on the day...

So it continues even two years before, I see.

All change, I'm afraid.
