I first stumbled into McGrory's in July 1996, on my way up to Malin. Discovering that there was a session here, I made sure to trace back to it on my way back. The session starts around 9pm, and is usually led by the owner John who sings and plays guitar. John's a great guy, friendly, happy to share loads of stories... The other regulars have changed over time but the lineup always seems to include a fiddle and an accordion. McGrory's is quite a social center for Culdaff, boasting two bars, a restaurant, and a guest house. Quite a lot of bands play here, including Altan every January. I stayed there for a night (after playing late...) a couple years ago and the accomodation was excellent. The restaurant was good too, and I make a point of stopping in to say hello to John and play a few tunes on all my trips now.
