Blaggard's Seisiun

This seisiun is run by the Ull Mor (Big Apple) Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, with a featured musician leading each week. To date, we have featured James Keane (buttton box) several times, Tony Demarco (fiddle), Annmarie Acosta (piano and piano accordion), Kathleen Collins (fddle), Maire Begley & daughter Neasa O'Sea (whistle, box), and Buddy Connolly (box).
It's a very friendly seisiun, with anywhere from 12 to 28 musicians of varying levels of expertise. Everyone has an opportunity to play!

Enjoyable session at Blaggards 5/16/04

I visited the Blaggards session yesterday afternoon for the first time, and found it very congenital. Fiddler Brian Conway was the day's leader. He is very inclusive and the session was tolerant of intermediate level players (such as myself). It's a bit more demanding than Dempsey's (on Tuesdays). The pub is very nice. The presence of a piano, complete with excellent accompanist (Brendan Dolan) created an excellent ambience.

Second that

It was very congenial, yes. Brian was easygoing, friendly and made sure everyone started a tune or set. Also a pleasure to watch him play some sets just with the pianist, a great take on Mason's Apron with all the pyrotechnic variations done with a relaxed intricacy.

Please note that the web site quoted above IS NOT THE WEB SITE of Craobh Úll Mór CCÉ. It is maintained by a former member of the branch and DOES NOT reflect the current and ongoing activities of the Branch. The current Branch Committee is in the process of securing another Manhattan location for our weekly session. Details will be posted on The Session when available.

Oh for It's Return

Boy, do I miss this session. It was the first session I ever had the nerve to come and join up with.

I wish all the infighting at Ull Mor CCE would end and this could be revived. It would be great to have a nice session that encouraged beginners like this one used to.

Anyone listening?
