Been running over 20 years. Predominantly an Irish Session. Beginners are welcome, but probably an "intermediate" session. Kicks off about 8.30 pm until midnight or thereabouts. Very friendly session.
The session has spawned a Ceili band "The Riverhead Ranters". There are some sound clips on their website from their CD which features a lot of the tunes from the session.
As far as I'm aware this session is no longer running here, there is however a session on a tuesday evening at the Newmarket Inn in Louth, which is a beginner friendly session, but welcomes all. There is also occasionally one at the Boars Head also on Newmarket Rd on a Wednesday.

I rang the pub today & found that the session is only run during the winter so best to check first
