This is one of the better and probably the friendliest session I've been to in London. It begins at around 4.30 and usually attracts a crowd so get there early. Mostly ITM but anything goes (in moderation!). Singers welcome, but bear in mind that this is primarily a musician's session. As well as good music the bar serves great food and drink. For more general info, check out these links: http://www.porterhousebrewco.com/ http://www.coventgardenlife.com/places.asp?id='145'
Some people park on the nearest (can't remember which one that is) bridge and walk up to Covent Garden. It's a bit of a hike, but it's free. Apart from that, there is nowhere to park I'm afraid.
Just to let those who are interested know, the Porterhouse session is not happening this weekend (Sun 27th of Feb 2005).
Ireland are thrashing, sorry playing, England in a rugby match.
As an alternative, a crowd of us are heading to Tommy Flynn's in Mornington Crescent for 6PM. To get there, get the tube to Mornington Cres. walk straight ahead up the Hight St and Tommy's is on the left hand side. Maybe see you there!
Please feel free to bring your pipes to the Porterhouse. We only get sporadic visits from pipers but I am assured there will be one around this weekend; she's coming down from Durham.
Alternatively you could come along to the Adelaide on Wednesdays. We had two pipers last week, one of whom said he would be back again on a regular basis.
Hey, just wondering if the session is on this Sunday the 17th? And what time? I'm down from Leeds for a couple of days and thought I might call by. Cheers.
i'm over the 28th to new years eve. what sessions are on???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? is p house on. i'm doing hammersmith n y e night. any late ones on after?????
Great to hear from you, how's the form? Any quack?
I'm not sure whiuch sessions are on to be honest. I know the Porterhouse definitely ISN'T.
I'm not gonna be around as I'm heading home this Saturday and then up to Donegal for the New Year
Sorry I'm going to miss your visit.
----------------------------------------------
Good news - they want to keep us on We are starting back a week on Sunday (14th Jan) at 5.30pm upstairs in the bit above the bar.
-----------------------------------------------
So a change of location inside the bar. Not as much room I'm afraid.Only people who have been on a strict diet will fit in the space so get munching on that celery! See you there.
I came along a couple of years ago and it was lovely but I've been in a couple of times in the last three months (without instruments) and there was no sign of anything. What's the story?

Good reputation
I've heard nothing but good things about this session. I still haven't made it there myself, though.
I might try to get there this weekend.

Being central, it's easily accessible from anywhere in London, and attracts a lot of good visiting musicians, as well as an established regular crowd.

Change of time
The session now starts at 3.30-ish and ends around 7. See you there!

Does anyone have any useful tips on where to park? I'd go regularly if there was somewhere handy-ish

Ballyhoo - it's possible to park *ON* Waterloo Bridge on a Sunday! - that's maybe a 5-10 minute walk to the Porterhouse.

Porterhouse schedule change!!
For the foreseeable future the Porterhouse session will now start at 5.30PM and continue until 8.30PM on Sundays.
Apparently this is to accommodate sporting events on the telly.
Please inform anyone who might be thinking of going along to this sesh.
Thanks
