Well I survived the first session, and despite the fact that a few of the tunes were (variations?) of what I expected, it was a good experience to sit down with musicians who were serious about the music and spoke knowledgeably of it. Unfortunately the audience was almost totally zilch, but as word gets around I would say that this could turn into a weekly performance of the highest quality. The pub itself has a kind of studious atmosphere, as does the boss, unlike quite a few others, and will consequently hopefully draw a crowd who will balance the desire for music and alcohol sensibly.
