There is a new home for the Syracuse Irish Session at the BallyBay, a neighborhood Irish bar (directions below). The session is held on the second and fourth Sundays of the month and runs from 4pm till 7pm. Note that this is a change from when the session was held in the old venue.
BallyBay's owner, Gus Johnston, is very excited about hosting the session. The hope on both sides is that this will be a long relationship where the music wins.
Because of difficulties scheduling around the holidays, the next session will after the new year when we will resume the twice monthly schedule. The two dates for the session will be January 12 and 26.
In the past, we've had as many as a dozen fiddles and a couple dozen other instruments. The music is 90% traditional Irish reels, jigs, waltzes, etc. There is some singing and some other styles related to Irish like American Old Timey and French Canadian. The crowd is friendly as you'd expect of people who come out to hear non-commercial traditional music. Directions to Johnston's Ballybay
