There is a new 'startup session' this Sunday, Starting this week, in Hanwell, West London.
Hopefully continuing every Sunday, late afternoon /early evening (about 4pm - 7pm), at ‘The Dolphin’ in Hanwell.
The first session is this Sunday , 17th May 2009.
The Dolphin, 13 Lower Boston Road, Hanwell, W7 3TX
(207 or E8 buses; Hanwell overground; Northfields, Piccadilly tube; Ealing Broadway, Central line or District line tubes, or overground).
See website : http://ealingsessions.wordpress.com/2009/04/16/hello-world/
Any support for a succesful launch much appreciated, especially as many of us are not very experienced ’sessioneers’.
It is intended to be a ‘traditional instrumental’ / tunes session - (with, maybe the occasional song).
Although the ’starup team’ know mostly English tunes, we would hope for a good mix of English / Irish / Scottish
(- as well as potentially some French , Scandinavian, and American Old time also ‘in the mix’).
We are hoping for a 'beginner friendly' session - and are planning to spend the first hour or so as a 'slow session'; keeping it to relatively simple tunes, played a little slower than usual-with encouragement given to learn new tunes - and build a repertoire.
However -any experienced players who are willing and able to arrive early -and give 'a strong lead', and words of encouragement, for the beginners would be very much appreciated !
