I found this session a few years ago when in San Diego on business. I was not able to make the session my last time in town, but dropped by the pub, and they report the session is still going strong. This is a wonderful pub, well worth a visit when you are in San Diego, right in the heart of town near the baseball stadium.
The session at The Field in San Diego has been active since October 1998, and currently runs from 7 to 10 p.m. on Sundays. It is hosted by The Boxty Band, includes many other local players, and we welcome musicians from out of town to drop in and join us.
There is dancing on a small stage at the end of the bar from 5 to 7, sometimes with live music. The session forms up by the fireplace just after the dancing ends.
Parking can be difficult. If you don't find a place on the street, try the multi-story "Park it on Market" between 6th and 7th, currently $3 on Sunday evenings. The Field is near 5th and Market.
