Monday nights @ 8PM

Irish Music Traditions was founded in 1999 to promote the Irish traditional arts in Atlanta, Georgia. IMT is a non-political, non-religious, non-profit organization with the following major goals:

* To promote Irish traditional music in all its forms;
* To promote Irish traditional dancing;
* To foster and promote the Irish language;
* To create a closer bond among all lovers of Irish music;
* To cooperate with all bodies working for the restoration of Irish culture.

IMT is a membership organization with elected officers. Dues are inexpensive, and membership includes a subscription to a quarterly magazine, Treoir, dedicated to Irish traditional arts.

Though not officially an IMT event, Atlanta's longest-running and most technically advanced Irish music session was co-founded in 1994 by IMT's music director, Mike Simpson. The session has met almost every Monday night for over ten years, and features some of Atlanta's top musicians (most of whom are IMT members) performing on a range of instruments including bouzouki, fiddle, flute, tin whistle, uilleann pipes, concertina, guitar and bodhran. The music is mostly dance music, with an occasional song possible depending on who shows up.

When you are in town, please come down and enjoy the craic!
The session is held at Fado Irish Pub. There is no admission or cover charge, and the musicians share a generous tab provided by the pub. Music starts at 8:00 pm or a little earlier, and goes until after 11:00 pm. For more information, contact Mike at msimpson@abelsolutions.com.
