Another traditional open session group in Knoxville...
I met with this session group a few times in Knoxville. They played a mixture of irish and scottish traditional tunes (stress on the scottish) both in open sessions and at various venues. I've been moved away for many years now, but I was still getting my meeting notes about six months ago. The club closed its website down, but continued to communicate dates and the tunes to prepare through bulk email to the members.
Patrick O'Sullivan's, Knoxville, TN--A note from a session attendee.
I just received this email today:
Knoxville has a strong Irish organization and fun music session. Rick Hall heads up the group along with Charlie Ball & Herb.
Irish Session meets on at 7:30 on Thursdays at Patrick Sullivans. Most of us are in CCE too. Below are two websites about CCE and session nite. I'm glad your adding us to the Sessioneer website! Thanks for fowarding this Gordon!
Change of venue!
After hosting the session for about 12 years, patrick Sullivan's has decided to "go in a different direction" so we are headed for a new venue.
We are pleased to be moving to the Downtown Grill and Brewery in Knoxville on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 6-9 PM !
The Bistro on Gay Street the first Sunday of the month from 5:30 to 8:00. See Tradition Irish Arts of Knoxville on Facebook. Many of the same people meet the 1st and 3rd Monday in Oak Ridge. Don't remember the venue or time (7:30?), sorry.
The session is on alternating Thursdays. As of September 2011 they are the 1st and 3rd Thursdays every month.
The pub owner has placed many instruments available on the wall for use of musicians to use if they are in town at a session with no instrument. A pub FOR musicians!
Patrick Sullivan's Session
The weekly session is from 7-10 PM. Hosted by local CC
