Is the Salty Dog session alive?

I went searching for this session on Wed 7 November 2007, at about 7pm, but the doors were locked and the girl inside waved me away. What's the story? I won't be back in Melbourne for a while, but others seemed uncertain about it too.

Salty Dog session in Melbourne / Ballarat sessions

I will be staying in Ballarat (or maybe Melbourne) on Wed 11 Nov for a
conference in Ballarat on 12-13 Nov.

Can anybody tell me if the Salty Dog session ( http://www.thesession.org/sessions/display/1721 ) is still running or will be running on the 11th?

Anything happening in Ballarat during those days?

Re: Salty Dog session in Melbourne / Ballarat sessions

Salty dog is no longer running unfortunately. Wednesday I'm pretty sure is the only night there isn't a session in Melbourne although I am relatively new to town so I might have that wrong.

Re: Salty Dog session in Melbourne / Ballarat sessions

Beginner / intermediate sessions on Wednesday at Comhaltas...it would be great to see some new musicians support what was once a very lively night in melbourne...

Re: Salty Dog session in Melbourne / Ballarat sessions

could be worth dropping an email to the Geelong Folk Club
http://www.geelongfolkmusicclub.com/sessions
They might have an idea what's happening in the wider area, and they seem to have a session at The Carlton in Geelong on Thursday night

Irish Murphys in Ballarat allegedly has a "jam" on Sundays - maybe that pub has some contact names that could organise a midweek session somewhere

Good luck
