This is an informal session of traditional European music in general (including Irish, Scottish, French, and many more). It takes place in a very "pittoresque" square with some trees, in front of an old building.
Since it's outdoors, it can be canceled due to rain. This session is more frequent in the summer. Although it is usually scheduled for Fridays at 23:00 in RuĂnas do Carmo (in Largo do Carmo), the day(s), time, and even the place are not always constant. I suggest you consult the tradballs.com agenda to better know when and where it will take place. It is usually referred there as JAM SESSION or TRAD JAM. Note that Portuguese are typically not punctual, so sometimes one may have to wait quite some time for musicians to arrive.
One of the best things about this session is that, more than musicians, there are many people that come specifically to dance (and they know how to dance the different types of tunes). It is therefore expected that musicians play danceable tunes. Both beginners and advanced players come to this session.
Although I am not the organizer of these sessions, don't hesitate to email me if you wish.
