This is the session that for the previous 15 years ran in the Merry Harriers in Hambledon. Unfortunately thanks to the ambiguity of the recent licensing changes the landlord there doesn't want to fall foul of the law and doesn't want the cost of reapplying for the necessary license. So we've moved. And what a lovely place the Cyder House is!
A very welcoming session. Anything goes. Please, turn up and join in.
Depends who's there ! Neil seems to have an endless supply of irish tunes whilst others like to play english. Bring an instrument, your favourite tunes and an open mind. I arrived at 9pm last month (via Hambledon) and it was well under way
Ah yes, all those great English tunes that were being played when I first went along last year, like Harvest Home, Boys of Bluehill, Drowsy Maggie, The Irish Washerwoman, the Ballydesmonds, And I'm trying to learn new English tunes to bring along, I just don't have many inspirational flute recordings of English tunes to, er, inspire me! (If someone can unearth that vary rare old Matt Malloy album of English Fiddle Tunes I'd appreciate it
And I knew if I put the First Sunday of The Month as the title, it'd get missed! Anyway, won't be there this Sunday as we're off to spend a week on the canals.
