Dusty Banjos is a session for students of Irish traditional music. It's open to all ages, nationalities, abilities, instruments etc. The atmosphere is relaxed andf riendly, mistakes are allowed, & jokes are encouraged!
i ve been going to mary's sessions and classes for nearly 3 years. the first time i went i only knew a couple of polkas and a jig. the encouragement and the relaxed atmospheare made me progress fast, learn a rake of new tunes every week and have lots of craic. I can ' t thank enough this group of musicians for swapping tunes, jokes, pints and smiles with me. fred
Dustys has moved to the Western Hotel (upstairs) on Thurs nights from 7-9pm. Sheet music is available (tho u don't need to ba able to read to take part). You can record tunes yourself, or we have CDs available. For more info see our website www.dustybanjos.com. All welcome!
Just joined the Dusty Banjos learners sessions last week.
I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is relaxed and Mary and Heather really put you at ease. It's a great opportunity for people like me who wouldn't have the confidence or contacts to start playing with other people. If things progress OK I think we might be even involved in a session in April. That's a dream come true for me. Fair play to Heather and Mary. Long may it continue. Noel.
