Slow-w-w session, for beginners and near beginners...
We are trying to get an extra slow session going for the two Sundays a month we cannot meet at our regular time at the Celtic Arts Center in North Hollywood. The owners of the Buchanan Arms, a picturesque Scottish pub with a fine menu and beer selection, have graciously invited us rank beginners in during the non-busy hours of 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evenings. Anyone interested in learning tunes and playing slow, come on by. Check the Celtic Arts Center schedule for slow sessions to see when we are NOT meeting there!
Most Sunday nights a few die-hards from the Celtic Arts Center slow Session show up after 6:30 now, and play until closing.
It seems the CAC now allows us a weekly (instead of bi-weekly) slow session, so the pub was being neglected as a venue until someone suggested going there for dinner after the CAC slow session. That was all it took. The instruments came in with the hungry musicians and that is all it took to start a small trend.
Most of the players from this Buchanan Arms session have now moved on to the Irish Times pub in Culver City, although the Buchanan Arms now hosts a Celtic band called "Mystic City" once a month...they are not bad and they are free.

PS: Call first to make sure folks are coming, there are not very many of us and Sundays tend to be family days.

Irish Times session canceled
The owners wanted to bring in a bigger crowd on Sunday nights and got rid of the trad players in favor of a plugged in band.
