I visited this session last Sunday and arrived about 8.30pm to find about ten musicians in a circle in the bar; after listening to a couple of sets, I caught the attention of one of the central musicians (a fine Banjo player !) and asked if I could join them - I was welcomed immediately, and shortly there was a small reshuffle and a spot made available for me to join them. The standard here was of the highest order - some fine tunes played beautifully at sensible speeds, (though certainly not slowly), but all with great feeling. I was made to feel very welcome and played along where I could, though there were a fair number of tunes I haven't heard before. There was a knowledgeable, appreciative crowd, and a very good time had by all - I recommend this session to anyone who is serious about the music, thanks to Gael Force for posting the info. I was even given the chance to try a fine Paragon Banjo later in the evening, and I think this was a fine gesture to extend to a stranger (it was my first session in the Manchester area). I will certainly revisit if I am in the area again, and thank everyone for their hospitality - Cheers !

Have been told that this sess finished a few weeks ago. Seems the landlord got a karaoke machine instead. I'm saying nothing!!!!!!! or I'll scream.

Dillon's Whistling Jig
Indeed - this session is no more. In fact the pub is no more. It's now called the Meridian and even the karaoke machine has gone.
