The session starts promptly (I kid you not) at 7:00pm and goes until 10:00pm or later. Louise Walisser (me) on fiddle and accordion and Kara Lochridge on flute host it every week.
The food and beer at nelly's are great, but you can't get food past 8:00pm(from the deli).
It is an advanced session, so if you don't know the tunes you can bring a recorder and get them for next time.
Space is tight, so if you want a good seat be there on time!
Good on you on this open session. I'm a bit farther out, in Charlotte NC / York SC and wonder if there's anything that anyone knows of that would also welcome beginners.
But I had to go and hang out the those "yucky" contra dancers. Don't fight it, Weezy...you know you wanna go!
Anyhow, I hope you guys managed to soldier on without me (tough, I know). I heard a rumour that there was talk of moving the seisiun to an earlier hour. Any truth to this? It would make it more feasible for those of us who do enjoy contra dancing to be able to do a bit of both activities. I guess, if you were taking a head count, you could say that I was "fer it." But even it it stays at it's current time, I'll still keep coming, at least on non-dance evenings.
yeah, that would be nice....could stay longer..but if it was any earlier on sundays like, no one would go the shebeen. (not that anyone does anyways...lol..)
there will be NO session on christmas or new years eve. we'll resume the tunes on the first sunday of january @ the new time 6 PM. be there or be a cube.

Durty Nelly's
'Tis a good session. There's a fairly decent beginners session earlier in the day at Shebeen. But. . . still a long drive for you, Twisty.
