Not an Irish session anymore

It's now a hosted open-stage night. Very nice people, but it's mostly a mix of folk and acoustic music, and in an open mic rather than a session format.

Still an Irish Session -- Now 1st and 3rd Sundays (and 5th when there is one)

Every Sunday was getting to be too much for our schedules. And I have no idea what dirtyheel means by "open-stage night." Except that sometimes, only 2 or 3 people know a tune rather than everyone playing. But that's true of most sessions I've been to. It's only Irish and Scottish music. And of course it's acoustic.

I'm glad to hear it's still happening.

In late August, I'd shown up on a 4th Sunday expecting a session, and found what I posted about. I guess on the 2nd and 4th Sundays another band hosts, and it's expressly NOT a sesh, and NOT Irish and Scottish tunes.

It's nice to hear an Irish/Scottish session is still happening there!

There Was an Irish Session 9/30/07

Dropped in last Sunday while in Pittsburgh and found a session that ran from 8 til 10. Nice mix of trad standards and some new to me (always more to learn.) Six folks were playing. I was visiting with an old friend and didn't sit in but spoke with 3 of the musicians afterwards.

Very friendly and welcoming and said they still play on the 1st and 3rd Sunday (and on the 5th Sunday when there is one). Suggest you call first to confirm. We received a definite "No music this Sunday" when we called Friday but that changed as of Sunday.

Session suspended

SFAIK, (and I'm on the e-mail list for it) this session was suspended late in 2008 and the organizer stated he was on the lookout for another venue.

Still suspended?

Ken
any more news yet? And do you have info on how to get on the mailing list for it?
