The group welcomes all ages from primary to 90+. Fiddles are the main instruments but pianists, guitarists, mandolins, whistles etc are welcomed. The group plays for a range of different venues including Scottish events, dances and concerts around and about Sydney. Sunday sessions are used to teach new tunes by ear (and sheet music) and practise those we (should) know.
Tunes are generally from the Scottish tradition with additional influence from the US (Contra dance), Canada (Cape Breton, well that's Scottish really), Irish and English to name a few. Emphasis has generally been on dance tunes for Scottish Country Dances around Sydney but we also play for the odd concert.
Session Timing
Sessions are held the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month in the hall behind (and below) the New Church at 4 Shirey Rd, Roseville, NSW 2069.
Sessions are not held during summer (ie mid December to end January).
Details are available on the fiddlers website at http://scottishfiddlers.com/Sydney/
