I have no idea why this one hasn't been added yet. It is held by John Daly every Monday from 6pm to 9pm, however it's a good idea to stay longer. It is because after the regular session there is live celtic music. Sessions are rather small and for advanced players, however everybody gets warm welcome.
Martyr's Pub may very well be one of the best venues for music in all of chicago. acoustics and atmosphere are great. John Daly is one of the finest fiddle players out there, and one of the friendliest persons you'll ever meet. i'd go to this session more, but it's not great in terms of public transportation for me.
Be sure to check out the painting above the bar when you're there...
Can't agree more Brendan. It's a wonderful place. I went to the session yesterday and Jackie Moran was leading it with his tenor banjo. Only couple of musicians but great time playing together. I know the painting ;)... Best Greetings and stop by sometimes.
