Jason's Goal

Hello, everyone...

I've been asked to host a regular once per month session in North Miami, and I'd love to have a good turnout of strong players, especially at the early ones.

We've initially settled on three nights, and will add more as things go well, but I'd like to get a good core of players in early, to set the standard and overwhelm any shakey-egg-weilding folkies that might perchance happen to show up.

Session rules:
1. No jerks.
2. No amps.
3. See rule #1.
4. No unsupervised bodhrans.
5. Did I mention no jerks?

The first night is this coming Tuesday, and then again on Tuesday, 18 April, and then on 16 May. If it works well, then we may finally have a regular place to play that's accessible for the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami players alike.

Jerks?

Hi Jason,
How about Jerks? All I need is this trumpet...
and this chair...
and this bodhran...

Goin' strong ...

The owner loves having us, so it looks like we'll be staying for a while. No session this December. Back again the third tuesday of November.

Out-of-towners welcome!

A few words about it's character:

1. 90% tunes, though we've had a few songs and even a storyteller!
2. Tempos can be fairly quick.
3. Venue is very music friendly. It's actually the most music-friendly public bar I've seen.
4. Best beer selection in town.

Since it's fallen to me to assert rules, I'm going to post a couple here:

--One bodhran at a time, please
--Bones for effect or accent only: not full-blast on every tune, thanks.
--Tune it or die.
--take bodhran "lessons" to punters outside, please.

Not that these have been a huge problem. I'm just getting out in front of things.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality of the players and - more importantly, the people.
