Sessions were pretty active some time ago, as I understand, but are sporadic as of January 2006. I'd like to see them start up again. The space is available and the event is on the pub's weekly calendar...we just need musicians!
We're getting the Celtic music folks from St. Louis over here every first Tuesday of the month -- what a great crew! The remaining Tuesdays are hit/miss yet. There's a core group of guitar, fiddle, bodhran, and accordion that are able to be there most weeks, but there's always room for more! Good food, good drink, and great people!
The pub owners sold out to a buyer who's turning the place into a sports bar (like we need ANOTHER place around here that has 12x big screen TVs in the wall and sells a load of chicken wings...).
We're looking into alternate venues...the search will likely take a bit, as there are a number of possibilities to check out (none at all like what we had). Stay tuned.
We're hanging out at a place in Fairview Heights called the Dandy Inn. It's more a bar/grill and less a pub, but they hang shamrocks on awnings and the staff wears green. Better still, the management treats us well and the patrons love the tunes and songs. Same night (Tuesday), same time (7:30pm-~10pm). Corner of Old Collinsville Road and US 50 (Lincoln Hwy) in Fairview Heights.
